“This is how I want to learn”: High Functioning Autistic Teens Co-Designing a Serious Game

The game you see on the background has been
co-designed by teenagers with high functioning autism. The aim is to conquer a virtual map of Europe
by using knowledge of the specific countries. The teenagers used their own experience as
players to integrate several serious game mechanisms which make the experience more
enjoyable. In this paper, we describe the sensitive and
flexible approach to the design process. We provide examples of stakeholder’s participation
and reflection on how their particular needs were considered.
