How To Put Any iPhone Into DFU Mode


what’s up YouTube today I want to talk
to you guys about putting your iDevice into DFU mode and we have a couple
different devices here we’re going to go through the different series of devices
and we’re going to show you how to connect your device to DFU mode so that
you can restore your device you could use futures restore or like most of you
use the boot rom exploit checkmate and the check-rein jailbreak so we’ll take a
couple times a little bit of practice these devices are little easier than
these devices but I’m gonna show you what you need to do let’s jump right
into it here we go before we begin you’re gonna want to make sure you have
two things you’re not going to require a map book like you see here but you do
need to have the latest version of iTunes installed if you’re using a
Windows computer this is the only thing you need nothing special so just make
sure you’ve gone to Apple’s websites or you can type into Google search for
iTunes windows and you can install this on your computer Mac OS already has this
built-in if you’re using the latest version of Mac OS it’s actually built
into the finder and if you’re like me and refuse to update you can just load
up your iTunes just as we see right here now opening itunes is helpful because
you can then detect that the device is in DFU mode and even if you don’t have
it open itunes is going to detect the device in DFU mode and kick it open
anyway so you’ll know that you have done the steps correctly I want to begin this
video using the trusty iPhone 5s or the iPhone 5 series so this will work with
the iPhone 5 iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s just like to point out that this method
is actually the exact same method for older devices you may need a different
cable but it is the exact same method this also works for the iPhone 6
although I will show you the iPhone 6 as well
the first thing we’re gonna need is a USB cable so we need the lightning cable
preferably the lightning cable that came with your device plug it into your
computer and then plug it into your device this is actually a really cool
iPhone if any of you haven’t noticed this is an iPhone 10.2 the Yalu
jailbreak very nostalgic now we’re gonna put this device into DFU mode you don’t
need to power the device down I actually would prefer the device to be on myself
fairly simple you need to hold the power button and your home button now you’re
hopefully gonna have a functioning power button you’re gonna be using us a lot
don’t mash these buttons so you hear the click you don’t want to force and mash
this button especially because you’re going to be using it a lot to boot up
your devices if you’re using the check-rein jailbreak
so just throwing that out there is a kind of a don’t do that
I guess same with the home buttons here too but it’s more prominent on the power
button so what I like to do is right on the lock screen here you’re going to
begin by holding the power button and then holding the home button we’re going
to count down and I will put it up on the screen just over here so you can
follow along with me we’re gonna do power button one two three
we’re going to hold both buttons 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 like though continuing to
hold this button 4 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 and here we go we are now in DFU mode very
very simple if you have troubles doing this you can try again and if you see
here iTunes will say your device has been
detected in recovery mode now don’t get this confused with the connect to itunes
screen one of the reasons I say to do this while the device is powered up is
so that you don’t accidentally get into recovery mode so we are now in DFU mode
you would be able to run the jailbreak you can restore your device you can do
multiple things so there will be nothing on the device as you can see here the
device will just remain black so if you see our itunes recovery logo you’ve done
this incorrectly when you will have to reboot and just for all purpose sake
let’s reboot the device fairly simple to do again we’re going to hold the device
power button and home button 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 power button and the device
will reboot this won’t throw you in the loop so you don’t need to worry about
doing this and then possibly having to restore your device is completely safe
to do as many times as you like now let’s move on to another device here we
have another device this is an iPhone 6 plus so this is the iPhone 6 series this
device is running iOS 4.2.1 I believe you want to take your lightning cable
plug it into the device now with the device powered on this
device has the power button to the side and then the physical home button so we
are going to place our finger here your finger here do one two three on the
power button one two three four five six seven eight nine ten holding the
power hand home button and then we release three four five six seven and
boom so we are now in DFU mode again as you can see there there’s nothing on the
device and iTunes is now showing the device has been detected in recovery
mode in this mode you should be able to trigger the check-rein exploit once
again to power it on very simple power button to the side here home button hold
together one two three four five six seven eight nine ten
let go power button and your device reboots so there we go that’s the iPhone
6 series and let’s move on to a more popular device and I believe that most
people are going to have this device the trusty iPhone 6s now like the iPhone 6
the iPhone success also has a physical home button which means there’s a click
when you push the button and the power button is off to the side here so we’re
gonna take our lightning cable plug it into our device here now my device is
powered up again I suggest you power up your device to do this it just makes
things a lot easier we’re gonna hold the power button one
two three then we’re gonna hold the home button 4
5 6 7 8 9 10 we’re gonna let go of the power button we’re gonna continue
holding that home button 3 4 5 6 7 until the pops up here the device is now
in DFU mode once again you will see it hi toons give
you a devices in recovery mode and although this is repetitive I do want to
show this there is no stupid question out there how do we power the device
back up if we don’t want to do anything with it and we just want it to reboot
simply just hold our home button and our power button which is located on the
side here one button one two three four five six seven eight nine ten you can
let them go you can push your power button and then device will reboot just
to show you guys that the OS will load this device is running iOS 13 so let’s move on to the iPhone 7 the
iPhone 7 is going to be a little different without a physical home button
we are going to need to use the volume rockers it’s pretty easy this device you
may have to do one or two times to kind of get used to it
but again the steps are very simple it’s actually a lot quicker to get this
device into DFU mode and for those of you wondering this device is running
12.4 now I like to once again have the device powered on to do this what I like
to do is press one two and then begin holding these buttons so I’m going to go
volume up volume down and then hold the power button with the volume down button
so we’re going to do one two and then hold these two one two three and the
second the power the screen goes black you want to make sure you let go of the
power button you have to do this fairly quickly now as you can see there I
failed and I actually failed because I was fumbling around here and this is
good to show I want to show you guys that these devices can be a little more
difficult so if it fails allow the device to reboot again one two one two
three four letting go of the power button the second the screen turns off
but continue holding the volume down and we see the device is in DFU mode again the device will have nothing on
the screen if you see a recovery logo you’ve done this incorrectly now because
this device is getting more difficult to put into DFU mode we’re going to take it
out of DFU mode and we’re gonna put it back into DFU mode so to take it out of
DFU mode is fairly simple we just want to hold our volume down
rocker and our power button 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 and then we can hold our power
button and the device will power back up now let’s let this device power up while
it powers up I want to mention I unfortunately don’t have an iPhone 8 to
demoed this on the iPhone 7 or 7 plus in this case which this is a jet-black
iPhone 7 is the exact same method which is also another reason why I wanted to
cover this twice so as you can see here my device is powered up it’s not
necessary to put your ping code in I just want to show the device is
functioning so we’re going to do this one more time just from the lockscreen
so again I’m going to go volume up volume down hold volume down and power 2
3 4 continue holding the volume down letting go over the power do not let
that volume down button go continue holding it and we are now in DFU mode so
these devices can be a little trickier this will be the iPhone 7 7 + 8 + 8 +
will be a little more difficult to put into DFU mode but I promise when you
guys are not standing behind a camera trying to do it right every single time
like I’m doing right here it’s much easier when you have to enable a
jailbreak to boot up and you get used to doing this three five times a week
depending on how many times you feel like rebooting
your device if you want to see the verbose boot this does get easier all
right the last device the iconic iPhone 10 this is probably my favorite device
ever and it’s mostly because it has a boot ROM x-blade I can’t lie you get the
new design it’s wicked fast even in 2019 2020 and it’s fully permanently
jailbroken for life this is the best of ice apple ever made in my opinion hands
down I’m not surprised they quit selling it
right away because I would purchase this device over any of the devices they have
out right now now let’s put this device into DFU mode like the iPhone 7 and the
eight series it’s a little different to put into DFU mode and this device can be
a little tricky so want you guys to follow along we’re gonna do this a
couple times and we’ll go from there now I’m on the lockscreen doesn’t matter
for the devices on the lockscreen but this device should be powered up to do
this I’ve had a lot of troubles doing it when the device is not powered up not
saying it’s impossible just saying it’s impractical with this device we’re gonna
do volume up volume down home button and we’re gonna hold the home button and the
second this device powers down we’re going to hold the volume down and the
power button for five seconds and then we’re going to release the power button
continue to hold the volume down button and we’ll go into DFU mode yeah that’s a
lot of steps and yes this is gonna take some practice for you guys let’s begin
volume up volume down power continue to hold the power until the screen goes
black second screen goes black one two three four five release that home or
that power button continue holding the volume down button continue holding and
we are in DFU now I did this very quickly
so I did volume up volume down and then held the power button I held the power
button until the device went to a black screen and then I let go of the buttons
all the buttons for just half a second just a millisecond and then I begin
holding the volume down and the power button for five seconds once those five
seconds are up I release the power button and I continue holding the volume
down button so you can see there’s extra steps into getting this device into DFU
then there was for the iPhone 7 so let’s get this device out of DFU and let’s do
it again and as you can see here just like every
other iPhone iTunes is going to detect a device in recovery mode and will tell
you you need to restore this device again this message is incorrect do you
not have to restore this device to reactivate it so to get this device out
of DFU mode we have to do volume up volume down hold the power button
continue to hold the power button so you can let go of the power button
after about 10 seconds hit the power button again so even this device has a
different sequence to power back on so now that this device is power back up
we’re going to put it back into DFU mode so again follow along volume up volume
down power button keep holding until that screen goes blank now the second note screen goes blank
you want to start holding the power button and the volume down for about
five seconds release that power button and continue to hold that volume down
continue holding continue holding and we are back in DFU mode so the iPhone 10 is
probably the most difficult device I have found to put into DFU mode again
once you do this two three five twenty times it becomes natural extremely easy
to do and then as you can see here we get the device has been put into
recovery mode so that’s it we’ve come to the end of the video here if you guys
