-: So, ARFID is Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder. It’s a relatively newer eating disorder that has been described since 2013. It differs from the more traditional eating disorders in that the person doesn’t have the preoccupation with weight and shape. However, a component, and what it can be due to is it can be due to an anxiety around food and around eating. It can be due to the sensory characteristics of the food. Or it can be due to a lack of interest in food. It can result in a significantly, in a person being significantly underweight for their age and for their development. They can have significant nutritional deficiencies, and/or it can also impact in their overall quality of life.
